Sweet Encounter (Sha Tin Race 8 No.11)
No spoils in this one. This looks like an ideal opportunity for him to atone for his last start second over the 1400m here at Sha Tin. There were a lot of errors by the pilot last start when favourite but he still managed to finish the race off well behind the eventual winner Stunning Impact. This was his first race start where he ended up behind horses and I thought he did a pretty good job for such a lightly raced horse. He is at peak fitness now, and goes up to the mile, Zac Purton is on and he has drawn barrier 5 in a race that lacks serious pace so I expect them to either lead or box seat throughout. He should get a very soft run regardless and providing he handles the mile, he is going to be mighty hard to beat, hence why he is my best bet on the card.

Speed Fay Fay (Sha Tin Race 6 No.10)
He has had two nice placings so far this season. First up he finished a close-up third behind Sweet Encounter and Blissful Star before having the blinkers taken off and again running a 1.9-length third over this track and distance behind Marado and Casa Legend. The blinkers go back on which is the right move, Jerry Chau gets a kilo off thanks to his claim and he has drawn ideally in barrier two. He should be near peak fitness now and looks a nice each-way bet.

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet flies on this track and is weighted superbly. Best Bet Bedouin Bear (Goulburn Race 1 No. 1) Flies here with 6 placings ( and 3 wins ) from 10 attempts. Superbly weighted after the claim and comes into this with a big chance. Slightly awkward draw but will be very hard to beat with even luck. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bhakti Dave Each Way

The track is Good and the shiny new running rail is in the true position. The feature is the $30,000 Murray Reid Memorial Pingrup Cup over 1660m (race 5) where last year's winner Oddoneout returns to defend his title. There's also a yabby race after the last but we have no tips for that! Best Bet
