Running Glory (Sha Tin Race 3 No.2)
He was over the 1800m first-up and they settled near the rear of the field like usual before making a massive run up the outside to narrowly miss on the line to rival Rise Brethren who had the perfect run. He meets Rise Brethren 1kg better off for that narrow defeat and he gets the services of Zac Purton which automatically adds a length or so to any horse. He has since had an easy tick over trial and should be ready to go in this one. The only query is the slow pace but looking through his form, his last win in May this year was over 2000m and the pace that day was pretty slow, so I expect him to have no issues here.

Golden Express (Sha Tin Race 5 No.8)
I don’t usually tip foreign horses having their first start in Hong Kong but this guy’s trials have impressed me. He was known as Gulf of Venice in Australia when he was with David Vandyke and his only race start at Doomben in Queensland was a 5.8-length win that he did with ease. He has had three trials since coming to Hong Kong with his latest being his best where he was an easy winner by 1.1 lengths over horses like Cordyceps Six and Duke Wai. Of the 5 trials on the day, this one was rated the best in terms of overall pace throughout, and it was 1.5L quicker than Wellington’s trial, which is a definite eye-opener. Now this isn’t an easy Class 3 with Sake Win, Science Patch, and Victor The Winner all engaged to run, but he has drawn well, gets Purton aboard, and maps to camp off this hot speed. I am expecting a nice day for both Purton and John Size.

The feature is the $50,00 Tasmanian St Leger over 2400m (race 7). As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight.
