Island Surprise (Happy Valley Race 4 No.12)
Landed with Island Surprise here who is rising up from Class 4 following two consistent displays in Class 5. First up with Purton aboard he ran a close second to Fortune Hero in a race that has produced 3 winners and 7 placings since, before again running a tight third to Sunny and Gold and Hearty Wish, another race that has produced 1 winner and 3 placings. He had an excuse last start as he did race tight for room and was galloped on around the 950m mark. He has raced in Class 4 before and hasn’t been far away plus he gets a good draw, maps well, and gets the in-form Silvestre De Sousa due to the 8kg weight drop. De Sousa is 4/13 (30%) when riding at 53kg or below, which is tremendous. I think he will be around the finish again all in all and we are getting a reasonable price for it.

Seizing The Moment (Happy Valley Race 7 No.10)
I think this is a really good bet to start the treble races and he is my value bet of the night. His first-up run was immaculate considering he began only fairly and was pushed along early and looked to have had the race in his hands when he was cut out around the 200m mark before really hitting his straps late. I concede that 1000m isn’t his pet distance but he faces a suitable race here which should provide plenty of speed for him to camp off. He does go up to Class 2, which I think he is ready for now and the draw is perfect for him. I am a touch concerned that Borges is off him here but nonetheless he will have a nice run with no weight on his back and should be a real live chance towards the end of this race.

That will suit the best bet who loves racing here and comes up later in the day. Best Bet Flame Tree Star (Grafton Race 1 No. 1) Has a booming turn of foot and while Swanston doesn't have the easiest pattern to catch, this track does suit and that shows with the 9 placings
