Mr Ascendency (Happy Valley Race 8 No.9)
This is a tough race filled with many what-ifs, but I think this guy is flying under the radar. He won well first up over the 1400m before having a horror run full of excuses second up at Sha Tin over the mile. He trialled between his second and third race starts, and on that third race start, he got shuffled back to near last on the turn and was badly held up around the 300m mark before putting the foot down well to finish under two lengths off the winner in Beautyverse. He could have near won the race with a clear run. He faces the Valley for the first time which is a slight concern and Jye McNeil riding is also a query as this will be his first time here. But he has a nice draw, loves the mile, drops 3.5kg from his last run, and by this time of the night, hopefully, McNeil has figured out the pattern. He is a nice price considering and I think with a fair run and smart ride, we will go close.

Savvy Chic (Happy Valley Race 5 No.5)
Savvy Chic made his debut at Sha Tin up the straight when he finished a 5.3 length eleventh behind Pleasant Endeavour. I have watched the race a few times now and I am confident he finishes three lengths closer minimum and wouldn’t have been far off finishing in the top three. He was in the middle of the market, so there was an opinion there on the back of a few nice trials and De Sousa rode him on the day and sticks with him here. He was coming into the race nicely before he raced tight around the 700m mark and again at the 200m mark, and at the 150m he was badly held up and unable to finish the race off properly. He has drawn ideally here and I reckon we should throw something on this one each way, especially at the odds because I reckon he is going to give us a show.

Our Launceston Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday. The evening meeting has 9 races with the first at 5.36pm. The track is a Soft 5 and the rail is +8 metres from the 1200m to the winning post and +6 metres for the remainder. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight. David Pires has some good rides.
