Horse Racing Tips : ACT Tuesday 1st November 2022

Our Canberra Racing Tips for Tuesday’s meeting on Melbourne Cup day.

Best Bet

Prophet’s Pride (Canberra Race 8 No. 7)
This four-year-old Divine Prophet mare trained by Matthew Kelley has three wins and two places from eight starts. She resumed for a 1.8 length win over 1100m at Bathurst on 18 October, where she got a nice trail on the rails behind the speed and drove through a gap in the last 100m to finish best. Has won on Soft and on Heavy going and will be tough to beat.

Almost Persuaded (Canberra Race 9 No. 3)
Rob Potter trains this five-year-old Casino Prince mare who has three wins and seven places from 14 starts. She finished a length 3rd over 1200m on a Heavy track at Moruya on 30 September, then worked to the outside rail when straightening and took over for a 3.4 length win over 1400m on a Heavy track at Goulburn on 11 October. The track conditions won’t worry her and she should at least place here.

Best Lay

Sandastan (Canberra Race 2 No. 1)
This four-year-old Epaulette gelding trained by Richard Litt at Warwick Farm is the early favourite in this BM 60 Handicap over 2000m. He is going well but doesn’t look like a wet-tracker, and as I write this in Canberra on a monday afternoon the rain has been falling all day and the ground is waterlogged. He has top weight of 59.5kg to lug around in the mud, and in these conditions I am prepared to risk him.
