Best Bets

Our Canberra Horse Racing Tips for this Friday’s meeting.

Super Riff (Canberra Race 7 No. 6)

Gone a bit left field for the best bet and I think the price has some meat on it. The son of Super One got the winkers on for the first time last start and I really liked his run. He sat three wide with cover before peeling the widest in the straight and looking the winner around 150m out but I think the heavy track mixed with the wide run just took its toll late against Dream Game, who had a kinder run throughout. I think he can get a nicer run here and I think there should be enough pace to bring him into the race. Think he is worth a speck at the price.

Current Price: $7.50

Best Each Way

Chaotic Beauty (Canberra Race 6 No.7)

I thought this girl’s first-up run was very good when 0.2 of a length off the winner in fourth, in a race where she missed the kick by two lengths. She was the widest on turning and finished off the race brilliantly. She gets the barrier blanket the first time to try and help her in the barriers and gets a nice senior jockey change to Nick Heywood. She has drawn well, so if they can get away nice enough, I expect Heywood to sit her closer in the run. I do concede she is a slight risk at the barriers and has had 39 days between runs due to abandonment, but the stable generally keeps them fit. I will be saving on the favourite Burgundy Girl, but I thought this girl was worth a risk.

Current Price: $11.00

Our Pakenham Tips for Thursday's meeting. Key Comments The rail is in the true position. Keen on the best bets chances off the back of a very good first up run and is well suited jumping up in trip. Best Bet Lonfire (Pakenham Race 7 No. 4) Good effort fresh when charging to the line behind the smart Regal Vow. This race is well within reach and should have its chance to sit off them and pounce later over this long straight. Keen.

Our Ipswich Horse Racing Tips for the 18th of January. Key Comments The rail is in 8 metres and the track is rain affected. Expecting those on speed to be very well suited. Backing runners that will be right up on pace and on this tight track with the rail out will prove hard to catch. Best Bet Hardware Lane (Ipswich Race 7 No. 1) Former Beer runner who looks nicely placed from the good draw. Its on pace running pattern is well
