The Warrnambool Cup is a Listed 2350-metre handicap and the centrepiece of "The Bool", the three-day May carnival in south-western Victoria.
The cup was first run in March 1873 over 3200 metres and won by Villiers. It has changed names several times, was run clockwise until 1904, and was abandoned in 1971 because of rain. Cup day is the Thursday of the carnival, which also stages the Grand Annual Steeplechase over 5500 metres, first run in 1872.
