The Luckygray Stakes, long known as the Ascot Gold Cup, is a Listed 1800-metre quality handicap for three-year-olds and older at Ascot in Perth, run in November.
The race took the Luckygray name in 2022. Its distance has moved many times: 11 furlongs in its early days, 2400 metres from 1973, then 2200 and 2100 metres before settling at 1800 metres after 2007. It was a Principal race until 1979 and has been Listed since the group system began.
It is an early lead-up to the Perth Cup, and its runners often go on to the Group 1 Railway and Northerly Stakes. Captain Pluto won in 2025.
