The G1 Cox Plate, at Moonee Valley as we know it for the last time. VIA SISTINA (6) goes on top. She was utterly dominant in track record time winning by eight lengths last year but was coming off a big Turnbull Stakes win and she isn't going quite as well this time in. That said, Waller will have timed her preparation to the second and if she produces near her best, the others can't go with her. ANTINO (2) is the clear danger. He's been building this time in, beating VIA SISTINA home in the Turnbull after hitting the front in the straight. Now in the grand final, Shinn draws one outside Via and can look to take off at the 800m mark and possibly put her in a pocket. AELIANA (8) was a bit disappointing in the Turnbull with the right run. She can't be written off and Bowman knows a thing or two about winning Cox Plates. TREASURETHE MOMENT (7) and BUCKAROO (4) come through a weirdly run Underwood. Can make cases that both can raise the bar today.
Via Sistina won the 2025 Cox Plate by a short head from Buckaroo, with Treasurethe Moment third.
