Looks another very tricky round. Thus only betting into three games this week.
Collingwood Magpies v Melbourne Demons
Friday 5/8/22 @ MCG
Last 5 Encounters | Collingwood 4 | Melbourne 1
A genuine block buster gets us underway on Friday night with second placed Melbourne taking on third placed Collingwood.
Collingwood’s form is hard to fault. Eleven wins in a row including last week when they found a way to win yet another tight one over Port Adelaide at the MCG.
Melbourne have won four of six since the bye and two of their last three. I thought they were back to somewhere near their best last Friday night against Fremantle and with news that Taylor Adams will miss for Collingwood I think that the Demons will bring the Magpies run to an end here.
I have also identified a bet in the disposal markets for this game – Jack Viney To have 25 or more disposals.
He is in career best form (has had 25 or more disposals in 9 out of his last 10 games) and almost always performs in Melbourne’s big games.
Suggested Bet – Same Game Multi – 1.5 Units @ $1.88 (Sportsbet)
- Melbourne (Win)
- Jack Viney to have 25 or more disposals
Greater Western Sydney Giants v Essendon Bombers
Saturday 6/8/22 @ Giants Stadium
Last 5 Encounters | GWS 4 | Essendon 1
Two teams trending in opposite directions.
The Giants have lost their last four games by six goals plus. And Interim coach Mark McVeigh said the majority of his players had effectively checked out of season 2022 after last weeks loss. A damning assessment.
The Bombers on the other hand are coming home with a wet sail. They’ve won four of their last five and the only loss was a narrow one to Collingwood who are flying.
Think the Bombers will fancy their chances to bank another four points here.
Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Essendon Line (-4.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
Brisbane Lions v Carlton Blues
Sunday 7/8/22 @ The Gabba
Last 5 Encounters | Brisbane 4 | Carlton 1
Carlton were very disappointing in Adelaide last week against the Crows. That five goal loss puts them well and truly back in the scrap for a top eight spot.
The Lions were quick out of the blocks against Richmond at the MCG. They lead by six goals at half time before a second half come back saw the Tigers snatch the four points and keep their finals chances a live.
The Blues have some big outs with midfield bulls Hewett & Kennedy unavailable, while Durden and Newman will also miss.
Brisbane also have a superior recent record against Carlton. They can cover this line at home.
Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Brisbane Line (-16.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
