Geelong Cats v Richmond Tigers
Saturday 25/6/22 @ MCG
Last 5 Encounters | Geelong 2 | Richmond 3
Verdict
One of the matches of the round is expected to be played in dry conditions at the MCG on Saturday evening.
The Cats have been met with good support in the betting since the prices went up and I am leaning their way too.
They defeated Richmond comfortably both times they met last season and get Paddy Dangerfield back for this.
The Tigers get Dustin Martin back – a huge in – but lose Trent Cotchin and Noah Balta. And I am not as sold on Richmond yet as a few other pundits!
Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Geelong Win @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
Sydney Swans v St Kilda Saints
Saturday 25/6/22 @ SCG
Last 5 Encounters | Sydney 3 | St Kilda 2
Verdict
Seventh plays eighth at the SCG in a vitally important match for both of these clubs.
The up and coming Swans continue to mix their form in season 2022. They notched up quality wins against Richmond and Melbourne before putting in a sub par performance against Port Adelaide on the road last week.
St Kilda, aside from a 15 minute burst at the start of the third quarter were bitterly disappointing against the Bombers in a game they were expected to win comfortably. That’s their second loss in a row and puts them right back in the pack in terms of securing a top 8 spot.
It’s hard to be confident either way here however the Saints get their captain Jack Steele back from injury, which will be a huge morale booster and at the current prices I am happy to speck the Saints in the head to head market.
Suggested Bet .5 Unit St Kilda Win @ $3.01 (Sportsbet)
Futures
Suggested Bet – 2.25 Units Gold Coast Suns To Make The Top 8 @ $2.80 (TAB)
Stuart Dews men are just one game and a small amount of percentage outside of the top 8. They have the second easiest run home out of any side in the competition having to play just three of the current top 8 sides – they play six outside of the 8.
Suggested Bet – 2 Units Richmond To Make The Top 4 @ $3.30 (Top Sport)
While I am not completely sold on Richmond, they do have a favourable run home. They have to play three of the top four sides, however all of these games are at home on the MCG and the remaining six games are teams outside of the top 8. They can sneak into the top 4 and give themselves another run at a flag.
Suggested Bet – 2 Units Melbourne to win AFL Premiership @ $3.80 (TAB)
There have been a lot of mixed opinions when it comes to where Melbourne are at however I really think they are going to bounce off the bye strongly and now is the time to back them in the premiership market. Steven May is a huge inclusion back into their side this week and while they will need to navigate the next couple of weeks without Max Gawn I think they are still the clear top pick for the flag. Their best footy is by far and away the best out of any team we’ve seen over the last couple of years I think they can get back to that in the near future.
