Fremantle Dockers v Hawthorn Hawks

Saturday 11/6/22 @ Perth

Last 5 Encounters |  Fremantle 3  |  Hawthorn 2

Verdict

The Hawks mounted a spirited come back from 5 goals down to hit the front against Collingwood in the wet last week before the Maggies rallied late to win by less than a kick in a quality game of footy.

Fremantle proved their win against Melbourne the week before was no fluke with a 14 point win over the second placed Brisbane Lions at home.

The Dockers will be with out the exciting Michael Frederick who has been suspended by the club for a week (drinking on a six day break) but will welcome back the dual Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe for the first time this season.

I think the key to this game is the forecast.  There is a lot of rain forecast in Perth over the weekend and Fremantle’s two worst performances of the year have come in the wet – big losses to the Suns and Collingwood.

Hawthorn look an attractive betting option here with the start.

Suggested Bet – 1.5 Units Hawthorn to cover the line (+33.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

North Melbourne Kangaroos v Greater Western Sydney Giants

Sunday 12/6/22 @ Docklands

Last 5 Encounters |  North Melbourne 2  |  GWS 2  |  Draw 1

Verdict

North started well against the Suns last week in Darwin but were again very poor after quarter time, their 10th 60+ point loss of season 2022.

Greater Western Sydney are fresh off the bye.  They have been good in their two performances under their new coach Mark McVeigh and should get Lachie Whitfield back from injury for this.

Think GWS will cover this six goal line.

Suggested Bet 1 Unit GWS to cover the line (-34.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Melbourne Demons v Collingwood Magpies

Monday 13/6/22 @ MCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Melbourne 1  |  Collingwood 4

Verdict

Looking forward to the traditional Queens Birthday Clash at the MCG on Monday afternoon.  This has become an even bigger event on the calendar in recent times thanks to the extraordinary work Neale Daniher is doing in raising awareness for MND.

After a run of seventeen wins in a row – dating back to the middle of last season – premiership favourites Melbourne have lost consecutive matches at home on the G.  And perhaps what is even more concerning is some of the off field drama they have been caught up in this week with one of their leaders, Steven May, in an altercation with team mate Jake Melksham.  May will not play this week due to a 1 week club imposed suspension.

Collingwood’s spirits will be high after winning their third match in a row against the Hawks last week.  Their maturity late was the impressive part as they responded to the Hawthorn onslaught and clawed back the momentum to win in a nail biter.

When you strip it all back, the facts are Melbourne are a far superior side to Collingwood and I am backing in their leaders and culture to galvanise them for this.

Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Melbourne to cover the line (-14.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
