Best bet – Race 5 #12 Sweet Margot May
She’s better than this BM90 grade and still on the way up – she should keep winning. From the favourable draw in five and only 56.5kg, it sets up perfectly to unleash her strong finish. I thought they may have looked to step her up to 1200m second-up but she is four weeks between runs so it should be suitable staying at the 1110m. Her second-up record is patchy but the key is the longer time between runs. There looks to be a lot of speed here, especially out wide, so she should just do what she did last start in going back to the rear and reeling off a strong closing finish. This is a strong race for a BM90 but she ticks all of the boxes.
Best each way – Race 8 #3 Cepheus
Has been good early money for this 6yo but he’s still a safe bet at the each way as it’s so hard to see him not being in the finish. Comes back from the top mile G1 grade when well-beaten in the Doncaster last start. But he can be forgiven for that run as he was probably out of the depth and the heavy track wasn’t suitable. He doesn’t go a yard on wet ground. He’s drawn well in six here and should sit a few pairs back, one off the fence. He will be positioned beautifully to pounce late.
