Powderfinger (Nowra Race 3 No. 3)
This looks like a decent assignment after 106 days off. She was good on debut at Canterbury behind Sweet Baby Boom before dropping back to provincial grade to break her maiden status by just over half a length. She has had one trial this time in against some nice horses and finished a distant fifth but within 1.5 lengths of In Secret, who arguably should have won the Silver Shadow yesterday. Drawn well, back to country grade and maps to stalk the speed.

Makanui (Nowra Race 7 No.4)
Been nothing but tough this preparation and this looks like a nice setup. Two runs back he raced three wide the trip before looking the winner for most of the straight, only to be beaten on the line by Seany’s Girl over this distance at Goulburn. Last start was good but was no match back into provincial grade. Drawn nicely and will sit on the back of a slow-average speed if they don’t take it up themselves. Back to 1400m suits, Louise Day sticking is fine and the drying track plays into his wheelhouse. Big chance to break his maiden status.
