Port Adelaide Power v Western Bulldogs
Friday 6/5/22 @ Adelaide Oval
Last 5 Encounters | Port Adelaide 2 | Western Bulldogs 3
Verdict
Port Adelaide made it two on the trot with a nail biting one point win over the Saints in Cairns last week. They need to start banking some wins at home if they are any chance to play finals footy.
The Western Bulldogs made light work of the Bombers last week but have mixed their form and aren’t the easiest team to get a guide on.
Both sides have some key structural outs however the Bulldogs have a very good recent record against the Power in Adelaide and I have a slight lean towards them here in a tight game.
Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Western Bulldogs Line (-0.5) @ $1.90 Sportsbet
Sydney Swans v Gold Coast Suns
Saturday 7/5/22 @ SCG
Last 5 Encounters | Sydney 2 | Gold Coast 3
Verdict
Sydney had their moments against the Lions at home last week but ultimately Brisbane proved to strong.
The Swans get a good chance to rebound here against the Gold Cost who are on the road for the second consecutive week.
Backing Swans to win in multis.
Suggested Bet – Sydney (Multis)
Essendon Bombers v Hawthorn Hawks
Saturday 7/5/22 @ Docklands
Last 5 Encounters | Essendon 3 | Hawthorn 2
Verdict
The Hawks continue to exceed expectations in 2022 running Melbourne to 10 points at the MCG last week. Aside from their 10 goal loss against St Kilda in round four they have been very competitive all year.
The Dons on the other hand continue to perform below expectations. They have some key outs but their problems run deeper than that. They are not defending to anywhere near the standard of AFL level and that is reflected on the scoreboard.
Think Hawthorn will get the job done here.
Suggested Bet – Hawthorn (Multis)
Melbourne Demons v St Kilda Saints
Sunday 8/5/22 @ MCG
Last 5 Encounters | Melbourne 2 | St Kilda 3
Verdict
Melbourne did enough against the spirited Hawks last week to secure the four points and keep their unblemished win loss record alive in season 2022.
The Saints suffered their first defeat since round 1 – an agonising one point loss against Port Adelaide in a very wet and slippery game in Cairns.
This shapes as a really interesting contest. Melbourne are without doubt the most balanced team in the competition however the Saints are pretty balanced in their own right and I think they have the artillery to really challenge the Demons. Melbourne are one of the best intercept teams in the comp but the Saints have Max King who could nullify that – he is rarely out marked inside forward 50. The Saints also have a great one two punch in the ruck which could limit the dominance of Gawn and Jackson for Melbourne.
Suggested Bet – 1 Unit St Kilda Line (+20.5) $1.90 (Sportsbet)
Carlton Blues v Adelaide Crows
Sunday 8/5/22 @ Docklands
Last 5 Encounters | Carlton 2 | Adelaide 3
Verdict
The young Crows faced a reality check – in the form of a 10 goal loss – to the Greater Western Sydney Giants at home last week.
Carlton also disappointed on the road against Fremantle but get a couple of key players back in Hewitt and Williams.
The Blues should be too strong at home.
Suggested Bet – Carlton (Multis)

- Sydney (Win)
- Hawthorn (Win)
Multi – 1 Unit @ $2.46 (Sportsbet)
