Best bet: Race 2 #4 Tamilaide
Looks a class above this lot and the wet track further enhances his chances. He has a tendency to miss the kick, and whilst I’d prefer he jumped cleanly, I think he can still be tardy away and reel in his rivals. This is a much easier assignment than his previous start where he ran sixth in The Wave, finishing well despite the tricky gate.
Next best: Race 6 #7 Amity Gal
A good race and real test for Amity Gal who has been thrown in the deep end after a hugely impressive debut win at the Sunshine Coast. She’s the full sister to proven group performer Duais, and Amity Gal is now herself on trial for a trip to Sydney for group races. She was never out of third gear winning at her first race start – she looks looks to have a lovely temperament, a beautiful stride, and should be winning again.
Best each-way: Race 5 #4 Logomania
Wasn’t totally disgraced last start in the much tougher Magic Million Rising Stars affair at the Gold Coast. He was beaten seven lengths, finishing seventh, but he wasn’t far off the third placegetter Thunder Mania, who has talent. The first two in that race (The Ritz and Palladas) cleared out from the rest, but they are clearly two horses with good ability. From gate six here at Doomben, I expect Logomania to get an economical run and finish hard to defy his ~$34 price.
